Nashakele & Challenger

The core business of Nashakele Graphics was initially dyesublimation textile printing and because of our sterling reputation in this field, more and more clients were urging us to expand into digital outdoor printers so that they could invest in a name they could trust. The result of this pressure from our client base was that we visited manufacturers in Europe, the United States and Asia to source a quality product that would suit our market at the right price. The result of this research was that we eventually chose to represent the Challenger brand, manufactured in China.

Nashakele Graphics holds the sole distribution agency for all Challenger products throughout sub-Saharan Africa. Challenger is the only export brand of the Infinity manufacturers. This brand is the single most successful large format digital printer brand in its home territory of China and South Russia.

This is a territory that is currently producing over 30 million square meters of print work per month, at an average price of US$ 6 per square meter. The Chinese are by this time well known to be the world leaders when it comes to massive production volumes at rock bottom pricing.

In its home territory Challenger holds an 80% market share among 26 competing manufacturers of large format solvent digital printers. In 2006 they moved over 2800 units, dwarfing the achievements of better known European and Japanese brands such as HP, Mimaki, Roland and Mutoh. The equipment is made at 5 manufacturing facilities spread across China, each one over 45 000 square meters in size.

In order to maintain their market dominance, research and development forms an integral part of their competitive strategy. To this end over US$ 5 million was spent in 2006, researching constant improvements, upgrades and new machine designs as well as improved inks and other peripheral materials. There are constantly new and exciting products becoming available from our supplier as well as upgrades to existing equipment.

It is a real pleasure to work with a manufacturer who’s commitment to their brand and their distributors reflects the Nashakele ethic of honour in business.
